Project Background
Myanmar Golden Rubber Co., Ltd. operates a natural rubber processing facility in Mandalay Region, Myanmar.
The factory processes 800 tons of raw rubber monthly, generating substantial quantities of biogas as a byproduct of anaerobic digestion from rubber wastewater.
Rather than flaring this biogas (creating both environmental liability and wasted energy), the factory sought to convert it into reliable electrical power.
The Challenge
- Abundant biogas resource from rubber wastewater — currently being flared
- Factory operates 22 hours/day requiring uninterrupted power for vulcanization
- Temperature-sensitive vulcanization process cannot tolerate power fluctuations
- No existing grid infrastructure — fully off-grid operation required
- Local technical expertise limited for complex biogas-to-power systems
- Project needed to meet Myanmar's environmental compliance standards
Our Solution
Our team conducted a comprehensive site assessment, analyzing biogas yie
ld (estimated 850m³/day at 60% methane content), factory load profiles, and expansion potential. We designed a custom turnkey solution featuring:
2× SE300GF Biogas Generator Sets:
- Prime Power:300kW / 375kVA per unit (600kW total capacity)
- Engine:Cummins KTA19-G3 (modified for low-BTU biogas operation)
- Alternator: Stamford UCI274H with superior harmonic distortion control
- Biogas System: Custom gas preprocessing — gas cooler, blower, desulfurization, gas pressure regulation
- Parallel Operation: DEIF AGC 600 controller for seamless load sharing
- Emission: Compliant with Myanmar DOE standards
Additional Deliverables:
- Complete biogas collection and system design
- Engineered installation drawings and foundation specifications
- Local technician training program (40 hours on-site)
- 12-month remote monitoring service from China headquarters
Results
| Metric | Result |
| Total Installed Capacity | 600kW |
| Biogas Consumption | 850m³/day (100% utilization) |
| Factory Grid Dependency | 0% (fully off-grid) |
| Annual Electricity Savings | $180,000 |
| CO₂ Emission Reduction | 3,200 tons/year |
| Payback Period | 22 months |
Customer Feedback:"We were skeptical about Chinese equipment at first, but the performance exceeded our expectations.
The technical support team from China flew in for commissioning and stayed for a week to train our staff.
The remote monitoring dashboard lets us track performance from our phones — very professional." — U Min Thein, Operations Manager
Sustainability Impact
This project transforms an environmental liability into a revenue stream. By utilizing rubber waste biogas for power generation, the factory:
- Eliminates biogas flaring (environmental compliance)
- Achieves complete energy independence from the unreliable grid
- Generates carbon credits under international schemes
- Reduces annual energy costs by $180,000
